Deutschland Bier
Throughout Deutschland (or Germany), bier is extremely popular. Deutschland contains well over 1,000 breweries, that is more than any other location in the world. All bier that is made in Deutschland must follow the purity law that lets makers know what ingredients can and can not be used. Basically, the only ingredients allowed to make bier in Deutschland are water, hops, and barley malt.
Due to the strict purity requirements, you can easily notice Deutschland biers by their overall level of quality. They have a distinct taste, with little to no aftertaste. Some styles of Deutschland ale include Koelsch, Weizen, and Altbier. Some types of Deutschland lagers include Bock, Pilsener, Dunkel, Helles, and Maerzen. The taste, aroma, and color can vary, although all can be identified as being true Deutschland biers.
The Deutschland bier Altbier is a common dark ale, that is top fermented in the lower regions of Deutschland. The bier proposes a yellow color, with a taste that is rich in hops. Another ale, Rauchbier, is known to have a smoky flavor with a smoked color. These biers taste great, and happen to be popular throughout the regions of Deutschland.
Deutschland lagers are also popular, and happen to be popular in other areas of the world too. Pilsener is one of the most popular and most familiar of all Deutschland biers, providing you with more hops and less malt. Pilsner can be found for sale all over the world, and happens to be popular throughout North America too. Several bars serve it too, as it happens to be one of the most popular dark lagers out there.
Within Deutschland, there are several different makers that produce over 4,000 different brands of bier. The more well known and larger makers of north Deutschland are Beck, St. Pauli, Warsteiner, and Krombach. In the southern region of Deutschland, there are more breweries, although most of them are smaller, as they are locally owned and operated. Southern Deutschland also contains the Benedictine Abbey, that is one of the oldest breweries in the world. This brewery started producing bier in 1040 - impressive indeed!
Deutschland is also home to Oktoberfest, that is held yearly in Munich. Oktoberfest starts in late September and continues for two weeks, ending sometime in October. Bier drinkers from all over the world travel to Deutschland and celebrate biers. Yearly, over 5 million people attend the event, making it one of the biggest bier celebrations in the world.
During Oktoberfest, local breweries in Munich are the only breweries allowed to serve bier in the bigger tents. There are six breweries in total, producing a variety of different biers. By attending this event, you not only learn more about Deutschland biers through sampling the different varieties and enjoy the rich strong flavors that make Deutschland bier so popular but you also learn about the bier culture.
